TL;DW — Terms of Service

Changed 2026-09-26: the operator's name in §1 and §11 is now Andromeda Genius, Limited Liability Company, the name on the company's Texas Certificate of Filing. Earlier versions named "Andromeda Genius, Inc", which was never formed. §10 is unchanged: these terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, where the company is formed, in place of England and Wales. Your protections as a consumer under the law of the country you live in are unchanged — §10 says so in terms.

1. Who we are

TL;DW summarises YouTube videos you have saved, and sends the summaries to you by e-mail.

These terms apply when you use the service at https://toolongdidntwatch.video. By signing in you accept them.

2. What the service does

You sign in with Google, choose one of your YouTube playlists, select videos from it, and we e-mail you a written summary of each.

Summaries are generated by an automated language model. They are a convenience, not a record. They may be wrong, incomplete, or miss the point of a video, and you should not rely on them for anything that matters without watching the source.

3. What you need to use it

  • A Google account with a verified e-mail address, and permission for us to read your YouTube playlists (youtube.readonly). §2 of the privacy policy describes exactly what that covers.
  • You must be old enough to hold a Google account in your country. The service is not directed at children — see §11 of the privacy policy.

4. What we ask of you

Use it for your own videos and your own reading. Specifically, do not:

  • use the service to infringe anyone's copyright, or to redistribute summaries as if they were the original work;
  • attempt to overload, probe, or interfere with the service or its providers;
  • use it in a way that breaks YouTube's or Google's terms.

We may suspend access that does any of these.

5. What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is. It is operated by one person, at small scale, without a support rota.

  • No uptime guarantee. It may be unavailable, slow, or interrupted.
  • No guarantee a summary will be produced. Some videos have no captions we can read, and some fail for reasons outside our control.
  • No guarantee of accuracy. See §2.

To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for loss arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

6. Your content and ours

We claim nothing over the videos you choose. They are not ours and we do not store them.

The summaries are generated for you and are yours to use. The site, its wording and its design are ours.

7. Third parties

The service depends on Google (sign-in and the YouTube Data API), an AI provider for summarisation, an e-mail provider for delivery, and hosting and database providers. §4 of the privacy policy names them. Their availability is not ours to guarantee.

8. Ending it

You can stop at any time — disconnect your Google account or delete your account from within the service. Deleting revokes and destroys the tokens we hold.

We may end or suspend your access if these terms are broken, or if the service is discontinued. We will tell you by e-mail where we reasonably can.

9. Changes

We may change these terms. The effective date above changes with them, and the current version is always at https://toolongdidntwatch.video/terms. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of the State of Texas, United States, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove protections you have under the law of the country you live in.
